Amba, tahini, labneh and zhug: choose by flavour

Sauces can change the direction of a meal. Use this guide to recognise names on the LAFFA menu and compare wraps or bowls more confidently.

Start with the dish description

You do not need to learn every sauce name before choosing. Find a dish that appeals, then read what comes with it. Our falafel wrap lists amba and tahini; chicken lists garlic sauce; spicy chicken also includes labneh and zhug. The individual menu description gives the actual combination.

Recognise different flavour directions

Amba has a distinctive mango character. Tahini is sesame paste with a nutty flavour. Labneh is a soft, strained dairy preparation, while zhug brings a herby, spicy direction. These descriptions help you choose, but they do not promise that everyone experiences a sauce as equally mild, sharp or hot.

A dip is not always an extra sauce

Hummus, baba ganoush, muhammara and tzatziki also appear as sides. Some toppings are priced additions to a main, while certain separate sauce prices are still unconfirmed. Check the price and availability of the exact item. An option without a confirmed price is not automatically free.

Ask about dietary requirements

Tahini contains sesame and labneh is dairy. Our muhammara description names walnuts. Other ingredients and cross-contact can matter too. Ask the restaurant to assess your requirements before choosing. Neither a photograph nor a short flavour description is a complete allergen statement for a particular preparation.
